Vallance Road  Transport for London

Vallance Road began with a detailed feasibility study looking at development options for a site comprising parcels of land owned by both TfL and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The site itself is incredibly complex, located over the shallow tunnels of the District line, adjacent to Cross Rail and within the Whitechapel Market Conservation Area.

Fletcher Priest’s design includes a 15 storey tower and podium, comprising approximately 80 units and retail at ground floor. The residential units draw on the architectural character of East London with externally expressed brickwork, and have generous proportions that exceed the London Housing Design Guide. The units have been designed with an innovative opening façade to maximise the use of private outdoor space, whilst the external louvre system provides protection from the sun and wind without compromising impressive views from the upper floors.
