One Angel Court
Angel Court, owned by TIAA-CREF, is located on an important site within the Bank Conservation Area in the very heart of the City of London. It is equidistant from the Bank of England and the cluster of new office towers to the east.
Our design reconfigures the existing office tower into a distinctive and highly sustainable addition to the City skyline. The proposal retains the existing tower core and below ground structure, and with its new floors, servicing and high-performance cladding will achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The smooth curves and translucent form of the new tower are achieved with floor to ceiling glazing with a ceramic fritted pattern to provide solar protection as well as uninterrupted views across the City. New podium buildings either side of the tower, expand the public space at street level by some 40%, with restaurants and cafes along Throgmorton Street and Copthall Avenue, and entrances on a widened and enhanced Angel Court.
Extensive landscaped roof terraces are accessible to all occupants with sculptural glazed roof lights above the first floor office reception create a dramatic day-lit space at the very heart of the building.
