Angel Court wins AJ Architecture Tall Building of the Year Award

Angel Court has won Tall Building of the Year at the inaugural AJ Architecture Awards. Completed in February, Angel Court is one of the few towers to open in the City of London during 2017 and has been a tremendous success.

The jury, which included engineer Jane Wernick and writer Lucy Bullivant, commented that ‘the way the building is set back at ground level, and the removal of some of the existing low-level building greatly enhance Angel Court, providing a better route through’ and that it has ‘transformed the ambitions of the street’.

The jury also commented on an excellent use of materials, such as the fritted glass of the tower and the ‘generous’ Irish limestone cladding of the lower block, as well as roof garden design by Vogt, which brings a sense of ‘beauty and delight’.

Angel Court is 60% let to a range of prestigious companies and during 2017 achieved the highest rent for a City building of 2017. In October Clubhouse opened its first City branch with a design by Fletcher Priest’s interiors group.
