A New Neighbourhood for Newham – Jonathan Kendall at London Build 2016

On October 26th Jonathan Kendall will speak at the London Build 2016 Expo at Olympia, the leading construction event for London and the South East of England. He will be focussing Silvertown, London’s major new regeneration site in the heart of the Royal Docks. With superb connectivity including Crossrail, DLR and London City Airport, Jonathan will present the masterplan for the site. Shaped by its heritage as an innovative global trading port, it will be a place for contemporary businesses, to interact with their audiences and consumers and to attract and retain the innovators who work in them. It will also be a destination to engage with the products and services they create. Seven million sq ft of development across sixty two acres including new hybrid building typologies for international brands, innovative infrastructure, up to 3,000 homes, higher education institutions and community facilities all connecting to new dockside public realm will be created.

The designs for Silvertown follow on from the practice’s earlier experience in Newham, designing the masterplan for the Olympic Village and Stratford City, transforming this part of London into the multi award winning East Village community.

The two day conference, with over 100 top level speakers from Government, developers, contractors and architects, will cover a wide portfolio of topics including planned and future construction projects and key opportunities arising in the next 5 years.
