Again this year we are delighted that so many of our completed projects are taking part in the Open House weekend including Silvertown, 6 Bevis Marks, Tower 42 and Watermark Place.
For the first time this year, Watermark Place is hosting a tour with VocalEyes, a charity dedicated to providing access to the arts and architecture, and together with Nomura and ourselves they are leading a tour to bring the building alive for those with difficulty seeing or indeed no sight at all.
During the tour the building is brought to life by ‘describers’ supported by the architect and the client and together they lead a tour which literally describes the building – its volume, its materiality, its sounds and its textures and what it’s like to work there.
We wanted to go one step further and explain the very complex shape of the elements that make up 1 Angel Lane and so our model maker produced a set of 3D printed building shapes to be held and touched to understand how the building fits together.
We’re hoping that together with the guided tour these models really help blind and partially sighted people to experience Open House.
