One New Ludgate wins RICS London Commercial Building Award 2016

Fletcher Priest Architect’s One New Ludgate 35,040/sq m office and retail building for Land Securities in the City of London has won the Royal Institute of Charter Surveyors top prize for Commercial Office Building of the Year.

This transformation of an island site in the heart of the City of London replaces outdated 1980’s office buildings, essentially creating a new piece of City. On a site redolent with history, Fletcher Priest’s award winning design not only masterplans the whole site reinstating and improving the public realm, but creates prime Grade A commercial offices with extensive private roof terrace and a new public piazza.

One New Ludgate, which was pre-let to global law firm Ropes and Gray, Petronas and Commonwealth Bank of Australia, is the latest successful development in the City for the practice.  Other City projects include Carmelite House, the London headquarters of international publishers Hachette, which was also shortlisted for this award, and One Angel Court, a 25 storey tower for Mitsui Fudosan and Stanhope which topped out last week and will be completed this year.
