Jonathan Kendall on Location at the Royal Docks with the NLA in February

Jonathan Kendall has been invited to speak at NLA’s February On Location Progress Report on February 25th. Together the Royal Docks and Greenwich Peninsula will create more than 21,000 homes and around 60,000 jobs for London in the future.

In particular Jonathan will be discussing Silvertown Quays, a transformative urban district in the heart of the Royal Docks. Jonathan is leading the masterplan design team and is working on a number of individual architectural projects, including proposals for new ultra-flexible large volume workplace buildings for international businesses. The fascination of the project is a multi-scalar design challenge in which we are seeking to create a genuinely mixed piece of city in which uses overlap and integrate. The creation of a destination characterised by hybrid typologies that are collectively coherent in their character and individually distinctive in the manifestation of their occupants is one that we are continuing to work through. Outline planning permission was granted in April this year and we are now working on the detailed plans for Phase 1.
