Architecture of Necessity Winner 2013

The Virserum Art Museum in Sweden hosts Europe’s largest recurring wood exhibition and has selected Watermark /One Angel Lane by Fletcher Priest Architects as one of four winners for its ‘sensitive central London development’, which adds a significant public space along the Thames. Now a headquarters for Nomura, the building reuses part of existing structure and introduces rooftop urban agriculture in the centre of the city with a kitchen garden and beehives, making a distinct environmental statement.

Project Partner Ed Williams accepted the Architecture of Necessity award on behalf of the Fletcher Priest team at the Wood Summit this week where the winners were chosen from 100 projects from 30 countries.
